The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
