The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
