The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
