The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 While eyes are downcast 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
