The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
