The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
