The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
