The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
