The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
