The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
