The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
