The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that blow gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
