By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
