The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
