The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
