The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
