The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and gently take it away; 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people together 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
