The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
