The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
