The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
