The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
