The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
