The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
