The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
