The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
