The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
