The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
