The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
