The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people together 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
