The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the second followeth it, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
