The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
