The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
