The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
