The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
