The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
