He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to a rich man, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
