He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
