He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And whereas he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
