He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
