He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
