He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
