He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
