He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
