He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
