He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
