He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble, pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
