He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
