He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
