He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
