He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
